GroupFire Inc. (“GroupFire”, “we,” “us,” and “our”) owns and operates [a community and membership Web-based platform and related mobile app (the “App”)] (the “GroupFire Service”). This privacy policy (this “Privacy Policy”) describes the types of personal information we obtain about individuals who visit our website (“Site Visitors” or “you”) at groupfire.com (the “Website”). This Privacy Policy does not apply to information we collect through the GroupFire Services, including the App, which is governed by a separate privacy policy.

PERSONAL INFORMATION THAT YOU PROVIDE. As you use the Website, request information about the GroupFire Services (whether on the Website, by email or in person), or take other actions on the Website, by email or in person, such as completing contact forms on the Website, we may require you to provide personal information (e.g., your name, phone number, email address, employer, job title, general areas of interest, etc.).

INFORMATION WE COLLECT. GroupFire may collect information pertaining to your interactions with the Website or emails we send at your request, device information regarding the devices you use to interact with us, including IP address, browser type and characteristics, Internet service provider, operating system type, language preferences, domain name, cookie IDs and other identifiers associated with your devices, and location information related to your device’s IP address; date/time stamps, and data about the actions you take (for example, the pages you view, the links you click, the emails you open and other actions). GroupFire also receives other personal information contained in content you submit to us (such as through our surveys, registrations, “Contact Us” feature, emails, and other communications). If you provide GroupFire with personal information about another person (for example to “tell a friend” about our services), you warrant that you received that person’s explicit written consent to provide that information to GroupFire. GroupFire may sometimes receive information about Site Visitors from third parties to enhance the Website and collection and use of that data is governed by the privacy policy and legal terms of the applicable third party data collector as well as the website using the data; it is not governed by this Privacy Policy. Additionally, GroupFire may collect or use the assistance of third parties to collect and analyze anonymous, statistical or aggregative information related to your use of the Website, including information related to your personal details and activities.

USE OF INFORMATION. We will use the information you provide and the information we collect about your activity on the Website to operate and improve our business operations, including for the following purposes:

  • To provide the Website and to enable you to use it;
  • To improve and expand the content offered on the Website and for the orderly and proper operation and development of the Website;
  • To improve and customize your experience and other users’ experience with the Website;
  • To contact you in response to your requests, such as for a product demonstration, product information or newsletter delivery;
  • To contact you as and when GroupFire believes it to be necessary for technical, administrative or security reasons;
  • To analyze and provide statistical information (that does not identify you personally) to third parties; or
  • For any other purpose specified in this Privacy Policy.

SHARING INFORMATION WITH THIRD PARTIES. We may share information about you with service providers we have retained to perform services for us or on our behalf (such as data hosting and data analytics services). We do not authorize these service providers to use or disclose the information except to perform services on our behalf or comply with legal requirements.

In addition, we may disclose personal information about you (i) if we are required or permitted to do so by law or legal process, for example due to a subpoena, court order or a request from a law enforcement agency, (ii) when we believe disclosure is necessary or appropriate to prevent physical harm or financial loss, (iii) in connection with an investigation of suspected or actual fraudulent or other illegal activity, or a violation of this Privacy Policy, or other applicable terms of our Website or service (or prevention of the same), and (iv) or otherwise with your consent.

We reserve the right to transfer any information we have about you in the event of a potential or actual sale or transfer of all or a portion of our business or assets (including in the event of a merger, acquisition, joint venture, reorganization, divestiture, dissolution or liquidation).

DATA TRANSFERS.  We may transfer your personal information to recipients in countries other than the country in which the personal information originally was collected. Those countries may not have the same data protection laws as the country in which you initially provided the personal information. When we transfer your information to recipients in other countries (such as the U.S.), we will protect that information as described in this Privacy Policy.

CHILDREN’S PRIVACY. The Website is designed for a general audience and is not directed to children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children under the age of 16 and GroupFire does not target its marketing communications, Website or services to children under 16.

COOKIES AND SIMILAR TECHNOLOGIES. When you visit the Website or open GroupFire emails, we may obtain certain information by automated means, such as browser cookies, Adobe Flash cookies, pixels, web beacons, device identifiers, server logs, and other technologies. A “browser cookie” is a text file that a website sends to a visitor’s device to identify the device or store settings and other information about your visit. A “web beacon” (also known as an Internet tag, pixel tag or clear GIF) is a mechanism that collects and transmits information about your device and interactions with our Website and emails, such as how you use the Website, access our emails and view our content.

We may use these automated technologies to collect information about your equipment, browsing actions, and usage patterns. This information helps us remember your information so you will not have to re-enter it, understand how you use and interact with the Website and emails and tailor them to your preferences, measure the usability of the Website and the effectiveness of our communication, track response rates to our emails, manage and enhance our communications and Website, and for other purposes listed below.

To the extent required by applicable law, we will obtain your consent before placing cookies or similar technologies on your device. You can manage cookies through your web browser. LINKS TO THIRD PARTY SITES. The Website may include links to other sites that are not owned or controlled by GroupFire. This Privacy Policy does not apply to, and GroupFire is not responsible for, the privacy practices of such other sites and we strongly recommend that you read the privacy statements of such other sites.

DATA SECURITY. We maintain administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information of Site Visitors and Business Leads against accidental, unlawful or unauthorized destruction, loss, alteration, access, disclosure or use. However, GroupFirecannot guarantee that the Website or any personal information you provide will be secure from unauthorized access or use or other information security risks.

YOUR RIGHTS.  To the extent provided by applicable law, you may (1) request access to certain personal information we maintain about you; (2) request that we update, correct, amend or erase your personal information; (3) restrict or object to the processing of your personal information; or (4) exercise your right to data portability. To exercise these rights, update your preferences, limit the communications you receive from us, or submit a request, please contact us as provided in the Inquiries section below. 

RETENTION OF INFORMATION. We keep personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which we collected it, or as long as we have another lawful basis for retaining the information beyond the period necessary to serve the original purpose for collecting it.

UPDATES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY. This Privacy Policy may be updated periodically to reflect changes in our personal information practices. We will post a notice on the Website to notify you of any significant changes to our Privacy Policy and indicate at the top of the Privacy Policy when it was most recently updated. Changes will be effective on posting the updated terms of the Privacy Policy and your use of the Website after such date will indicate your consent to those updated terms.
